With the advancements in technology and the gadgets that power it, people from a variety of lifestyles and classes are able to interact like they never have before.

Social Networking Around the World

Social networking sites like Facebook and YouTube are making it possible for people from multiple generations, traditions and lifestyles to get to know one another on a deeper level. In the past, the upper class had little to do with the lower class. They didn’t seem to have much in common. On a materialistic level, that’s true. However, many found that they did have some similar interests and philosophies. The online relationships took the access to the country club out of the social equation.

Greater Access to Education

Whether it’s via Pell Grants, or whether it’s access to online learning via the new technology, today’s students come from all walks of life. In the past, only the affluent could afford college educations, so it was more difficult for the lower class to excel beyond generations of poverty. Whether it’s access to better resources, a shift in lower class values or politics, there’s no denying the rags to riches story is alive and well around the world.

Technology As a Window To the World

Everything from the Internet to Satellite television has given people a window to the world where they can learn about different cultures and lifestyles. What was once considered foreign and unsavory can become the popular culture of the day. A great example is the explosion of Rap music. It is a worldwide phenomenon. Without the wonders of technology, that would have never happened.
